Summary
The historic 50th Annual 567 WCM is in the rear view mirror.
A hot weekend we had. We were fortunate to have a nice air conditioned hall as home base for all participants. We had close to 75 567 s in attendance. I am pretty sure we had some that did not come with their non air conditioned 567 once they saw the weather forecast. We had vehicles from BC, Manitoba, Alberta, and of course Saskatchewan. The organizing committee did a great job in feeding the masses on Friday and Saturday nights as well as a couple of breakfasts. It helps to have friends like the Draggins Car club, the Dusty Wheels Car Club and Barry Churchman doing most of the cooking. Hard working past president Tim Doell wowed us when he went on stage and sung a couple of Elvis tunes with the live band on Saturday night. The band was excellent as well.
Doug Davies could have received a hard luck award for his trip to the hospital about a week before our event. He was working hard during the event.
Marvin Akister, Cliff Oviatt, and Garry Cherneske and others put together a great tribute and memorabilia outlining the history of the WCM. Well done guys.
Garry Cherneske was the official photographer and provided printed pictures in a very nice folder for the participants to take home with them. A bit of magic taking the picture in the morning and having all the 567 participant pictures in a nice folder for the owners in the late afternoon.
Chad Davies was his usual outstanding salesman with the 50/50 tickets. The winner, Rachelle from the Shifters Car club went home with close to $500. Nice for her to win as she does so much for the old car culture here in Saskatchewan. Jim Cruise and helpers were selling raffle tickets on a variety of items from a Dan Reid painting to several of Die Cast cars, 567 posters that were made up for the event, and a few mystery packs. Thanks to all that donated items for the raffles.
The Show and Shine was well attended. Guys were looking up, down, over and under the cars. Lots of discussions, and many excellent cars in attendance.
Nice to see some of our Life Time Members like Lynne Polonich, Gord Shoard and Bud Bayda in attendance.
Had we had a hard luck automotive award, Garry Polonich would have won it as he broke an axle on the “ Clown Car”, (55 Chev).
Thanks to all the members who volunteered their time to make this event a success. Also our wives (significant others) who pitched in as well. It would be been much more difficult without their help. Thanks to them also.
